Danang's best - Vietnamese iced Coffee ...

I have perhaps discovered the best coffee in the whole wide world. It may not be Starbuck's class, but it is definitely in a class of it's own. Behold the Vietnamese Iced Coffee.

This little delightful discovery was made in Da Nang, Vietnam last year on our annual birthdays cum anniversary family trip out of the country. I mean, I have always known that Vietnam has wonderful coffee, I just didn't have the opportunity to savor and appreciate it back when we visited Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh in 2014 (at the time, 5 months pregnant, no caffeine more than a mug a day).

1 part coffee, 1 part milk. Not just any coffee, specially brewed Vietnamese coffee. And not just any milk, Vietnamese own special condensed milk. Apparently, the milk is part of the secret. I tried using Malaysian owned Susu Cap Junjung, nope, didn't even come close.

Even though it's half-half, the taste is not even sweet, yet just the right bitter-sweet or 'kaw' that I would look for anywhere. Man, I still wish I'm in Danang now where I can have it every morning.
Even my little girl loves it. We had a last cup at the airport on the way back to Malaysia, and Sasa practically drank half of mine. Good girl.
Vietnamese Iced Coffee on the beach, by the pool, anytime anywhere. Oh by the way, this is a really late post. Maybe when Malaysia Airlines fly to Danang someday soon, I'll return here to get my daily dose. Till then. (pictures are strewn here and there ... sorry. Blogging on the go).

Prayers for 2016...

Hullo 2016 late as it may be tho'
Here are my wishes I'll have you know...

To pay what I owe
Return what I borrow
Befriend every foe
End whatever row

Careful what I sow
More rooms to grow
No space for sorrow
Real feelings to show

Enjoy the meadow
Out from the shadow
Welcome every tidal flow
Ride with the tempo

Less goodbye more hello
Love with true gusto
From here on after so will I go
May bright and clear will be my tomorrow.

Amen.

I may be 20 days late to wish everyone, but Happy New Year 2016 everybody! May the year be kinder to all of us, even treat us exceptionally nicer this time around, who knows?

On another note, 10 Jan was my 5th year Anniversary as Coffee Girl! Here's a Double Celebration on the 5th Year Existence! May my blog continue to breathe, live and let on! And be updated consistently. Fooh fooh! Amen!

Cheers!

Happy International Coffee Day!

So after completely missing out on September, I'm back! And coincidentally, today 1st October is also the International Coffee Day! Here's a little apt snippet (courtesy of the Huffington Post) on why you should drink coffee everyday. I don't need 6, I just need one.

So my dearest coffee mates, if you haven't had your cup of daily dose of goodness today, go have one now! Better still, buy a good friend a cuppa! Even better, make your own pot and share with your closest friends or family! Even better still, buy me one!

Here's my Caramel Macchiato... courtesy of Trenos Cafe, currently my favorite coffee spot.

Happy International Coffee Day everyone!

Ah Huat Instant White Coffee...

Instant coffee current fix? Here goes...

I grabbed a packet of Ah Huat 3-in-1 White Coffee from Everrise fast lane counter the other day, and I've been hooked on this brand ever since. Grabbing just any on the go was actually a gamble since 2 out of 3 times I always ended up disliking the taste and therefore blacklisting the brand while the packet will be left untouched until it reaches the expiry date (and then disposed of). A waste of money.

But this one time gamble paid off. Who knew right? Which is why you should never gamble.

Anyway, back to Ah Huat brand.  The one that got me started was the 'Classic' type. Delightfully, it wasn't sweet at all and not aromatic either (I hate it when my coffee smells weird...). It smells like white coffee, thankfully, and tasted even better... creamy but slightly bitter on the side.

And then I tried the 'Low Fat' type. It was even less sweet and slightly more bitter than the Classic. The 'low fat' tag kind of give me a better feeling but of course we all know it's probably a lie, but who cares?

Ah Huat Low Fat White Coffee (blue), Ah Huat ClassicWhite Coffee (brown...
By the way, ignore the OldTown White Coffee satchet. I like the hot cup they make for me at Old Town cafe, but the instant one is nothing close to it. This one is actually bitter than I prefer, like it lacks sugar and cream altogether. So... this is one of the failed gamble I was talking about earlier.

While I would still take Aik Cheong 2in1 once in a while (I still have a few satchets left and the brand is also not too bad), I have altogether chucked Kopiko (too bland), Super (too bland and too smelly), CheckHup Ipoh White Coffee King (too sweet and creamy and gave me headache) and Nescafe (stopped being a fan since 2003, too sweet and smells weird). By bland I mean my system has probably gotten used to them and therefore just doesn't do the trick anymore. Sorry for these bunch, no offense.

Yes I agree instant coffee is not good for health especially on a frequent basis... but it's as close to having a good quick cup of coffee whenever I feel like having one. This one trick I swear by: When your pee starts to smell like coffee, do a few days' detox and go coffee-free until your pee stop smelling like coffee. Now I remember why I stopped taking Nescafe 3in1...

On a different note, the coffee at any coffee shops served using traditional cups and saucers, priced at RM1.20... is still the best kind.

Have a good weekend ahead people!

Short August...

Well will you look at that... no posts for August, until now. Seems like someone has been a busy bee indeed. And always came home tired to do anything but spend the rest of the day with mah lil family. How time flies. I wish I can take a holiday every now and then. But we're saving that for year-end.

Anyway... am still here. Life must go on etc. And right at this moment, making full use of this breather to pen a short one for now.

If I didn't say it earlier, I'm saying it now...Have a great August! Till September comes. Bidding you a short good one with this caffeine fix from Trenos Cafe, Jalan Keretapi, Kuching.

Really nice coffee and nicer food at Trenos Cafe, 3rd Mile, Kuching

Caffeine therapy at The Coffee Clinic, Kuching...

Well Hello December! My favourite month of the year!

Today's routine trip to the obgyn stresses one thing only: that I should be actively mobile and spend time doing rounds at all the malls in town for Christmas shopping and buy things we don't need, since we still have a few more days before the EDD. A good therapy, that.

A session with the doc and the ultrasound adventure always make me feel like celebrating. So that's how we ended at The Coffee Clinic, another new coffee place opening up in Kuching. Well they have been around a few months earlier, it's just new to me because I haven't been living up to my namesake expectation of late... but let's not go there.

Overall outlook. Photo: Coffee Clinic Facebook

This place is really pretty, for lack of a better word. Kinda like what I imagine my dream coffee place will be like someday (if I ever I get to relive that dream, ever). Small, cozy, tastefully decorated, a little homely, and a lovely setup for a first coffee date or meet-up or get-together. There wasn't any loud music at the time of my visit... just some low melody barely heard playing in the background.

They have a range of coffee brew and flavor for you to choose from... served either hot or cold, ice-blended, or straight from that little tube-like lab glasses that oozes off steam and dripping off black concoction. (Sorry no demo pic). And they also have fruit flavored tea and classic branded tea. Ask for the flavor of the day tea! It sounded like fun! Except I already ordered my latter, so perhaps next time.

Front counter...

They also have cakes and biscuits and biscotti to go with your drink. The cake selections may not be as elaborate as Secret Recipe's or Starbuck's, but they have quite a lovely range to feast your eyes upon.

The cake counter...

Meanwhile, the hot caramel latte macchiato I ordered was exquisite and looking really fine, served with a really creamy and melt-in-your-mouth almond cookie...

Caramel latte macchiato... a pretty one...

... To go with my cheesy chicken panini. They also have pasta, burgers, finger food... but for this time, nothing too heavy, after all it's just mid morning. The toasted panini was not bad either, since I wasn't expecting anything fancy. It was enough to assuage the morning hunger pang.

Cheesy chicken panini...

My partner in crime on the other hand, decided to order their Meal of the Day -- Ayam Penyet -- knowing full well it might be a gamble. And a gamble it was... in which they lost. I had a taste and all I can say is... If you had called it Grilled Chicken Rice instead of Ayam Penyet, my system would learn to accept and appreciate it better. Because in fact the dish is okay, it's just the name that would make you expect more.

Ayam Penyet, menu of the day...

Anyway, I didn't manage to snap a few other shots of the interior and exterior as I was too busy trying to settle my big belly down. Haha. But credits to blogger Dora for this lovely shot of the upper bunker seats, kinda like an attic seating setup, with contemporary handrails, and seats a maximum 5.

Overall, I'd say getting your dose of coffee fix at a clinic like this may be a little pricey, but hey... once a while, when it's worth the drink, why not? My blood type is coffee, it says.

The midmorning damage...

Hey listen, I won't recommend coffee for pregnant ladies, but talk to your doctor first. I got my clearance at just a cup a day (including coca cola, tea and all other caffeine intake) since I began, so don't judge me. =) This is the only clinic legal to give you the kind of high you need in a cup.

Location: Refer to the receipt above. It's at Jalan Song. Next to The Bedroom, same row with Secret Recipe. Right opposite the road from CityOne Mall. You can't miss it.

Have a great December everyone!

The Beginning of All Things Good...

My first post for the New Year! And I am like 14 days late! So random.

There are a few posts on the way prior to this one being written, but they are still in the draft list. And some more stories I said I'd write about, but hey, first thing first...

ALL HAIL 2014!

And ya, if you noticed, I attempted to give this blog a makeover. A bit overdue. But I hope it will stay awhile until I can do some more proper revamping work. Whatever it is, there will always be coffee somewhere in this space. :)

Anyway, I promise to write more soon. There are soooooo many things to put into words I hardly know where to begin! The wedding tips, the honeymoon cum Bali trip, the moving house, the whole interlada about being called a new wife cum daytime career woman etc ... it's a lot to digest but it's an adventure of a lifetime that is much better in reality than just coffee-induced daydream. And here I am, can hardly believe I just said that. Haha.

Hope I still have my writing muse, so hold that thought. :) Meanwhile, here's a visual of our first meal cooked and ate at our new home, by yours truly. Never going to be a world renowned chef ever, but I promise I can fix a decent meal. Like my mother. Hopefully.

Herbal chicken, kangkung in oyster sauce (water spinach) & salted fish...

Till then, hope you all have a good month and a good year!! :)

And Here’s to the Final Countdown!

Well, how do you like counting down so far?

Getting dolled up for the prewedding shoot...
I have every intention to do a final countdown with this entry, but hey, I think I’ve hit the wall and now my writer’s mind is going on a silent strike. Blocked, is what it is. Or perhaps I’m just too many emotions all in one that I cannot simply put words into phrases without making one emotion less important than the other. Because they are all, of course, significant.

 Timeless journey...

Nevertheless, cheer me on lovelies. Because with or without coffee and whether it will make sense or not, I will finish this entry.

In less than 24 hours and I will embark on the biggest most meaningful journey of my life. Some people waited a lifetime; some had this moment handed over to them. I, on the other hand, is about to cross that bridge because it’s finally here. And then, you will also have the pleasure to see me burn that bridge down.

You see, a lot of people didn’t expect me to get married. In fact, even I did not expect me to get married! So the fact that it is happening is well… a little dreamy. A tad unrealistic but not altogether impossible. Hey, not owing anybody any explanation for that one. Right now I am merely accepting and embracing this little knowledge that soon I will have a permanent golden band to wear.

A vow made in front of God and men...

Who would’ve thought this day would arrive? I didn’t. But I sure do love the surprise it brings. So there’s hope. There’s always hope for a gift of life and love.

The old saying is true. When you don’t look for it, that’s when it will find you. I was walking through one heck of self-destructive road when my future came along and handed me caramel macchiato, and I never looked back ever since.
The Bestman and the Maid Of Honour tool of choice ...
Oh I could write a whole novel about that. But I won’t because it won’t be a complete book.

And now it is time to bury the hatchet, lay down some stubborn ghosts to rest, torch the bridge, close the book, and sign off for the last time as ME-the single woman.

Reliving that perfect coffee moment where it all began...

I like the sound of that. I like the sound of that very much.

So you have fun! I’m gonna go and get myself hitched now!

NOTE: Will return to post more after the honeymoon trip right after the function. Wheeeee!

COUNTDOWN TO THE BIG DAY - Part 3 and The Final!

Coffee Girl, the quarter of a story...

When I started with this blog, I had half of an idea of what I wanted to write about. I barely remember why after filtering many possible names to call myself, I ended up with Coffee Girl.

Half of the truth behind the name was that this isn't the first blog I ever owned. This is the fourth after the rest were opened and shut down and opened and shut down one after another. And with each blog came a different heading, a different theme, a different idea, and a different name. After the bleak repose and the drama that came with it, the storms eventually calmed down. Coffee Girl came, slowly blossoming, and most importantly, stayed.

Of all the names I chose for myself before, this one is the least likely to live up to its name. Truthfully, I love coffee but so does a million other women in this world. Friends and peers of the fairer sex who took a daily dose of caffeine to enable them to look the world in the eye one challenging day after another. None of us can have that exclusivity. If at all, we all have that right.

What's in a name? I don't have a real agenda. But whatever and whoever has touched my life has made it into these pages. Their stories and mine connected, has been turned into words. Sometimes it makes sense. Sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I write incoherently, but surprisingly some readers get me. Sometimes I take aim and miss and sometimes I shoot straight into the air at nothing for reasons unknown or reasons not made known, or no reason at all.

It's the 5th day of November. This is the last month of my life as a single woman. I've always known someday that this part of my life will unfold and that path will be laid in front of me. Ask me if I am scared. Ask me if I am excited. Ask me if I am ready. There are no well-prepped answers for some of life's greatest mystery. The thing to do is have faith and take the reign and enjoy the ride.

Coffee Girl loves coffee, but lately she has revolted. She used to love writing, but now she hardly updates this blog, and apologizing for every remiss. She used to love country music, but lately she stopped Googling for good new songs. She used to love romance novel, but even the last book she bought a year ago stays untouched. She used to love the outdoor and getting sweaty with nature, but her snickers stopped stepping on mud after trekking back from Kinabalu Summit. Has she changed all that much? Perhaps.

Are those good or bad changes? Coffee Girl sees more of the world now, taking trips outside of her comfort zone, stuffs she thought she'd never do or never had the chance to in the past. She takes more care of herself now too, and caring for another. When it comes to evening things up, the lady wins after all. I mean, doesn't love do crazy things to people sometimes?

Writing a blog was the best decision I ever made. It opened the world for me, and the world open up to me. Who's to say what other good things will come out of this?

I don't know where I am actually going with this entry, but when I started, I had a whiff of an idea that some things need explaining. As I reach this line, I believe that some stuffs shouldn't really be explained. Some things are just bigger than what's right in front of you.

I run by a name, but this name isn't mine. This isn't about coffee. This is about life.

Yours truly,
One of the many true blue Coffee Girls.

Today is 'Increase Your Psychic Powers Day'

Oct 31st is what I just said a second ago. No seriously. Google it up. If you think you have psychic ability, you know I'm not bluffing. And if you insist you have psychic power, today is especially created for you.

How to increase it? Try this little exercise: Read my mind. If you can. Go ahead. Predict my next adventure. Need a little clue?

I feel a hearty localized big-bang breakfast coming next Saturday. Read my lips. And today's short note is brought to you by a dash of coffee imagination and lots of caffeinated visualization.

Coffee and 'kuih cakoi' with coconut-custard filling

p/s: Fare thee well October! And may the odds ever be in my favor. Amen.

Dine Around The World at The Raintree Restaurant, BCCK

When they said they had this last year, I began to wonder where I was at that time to have missed it. Probably went around the world myself no doubt, because I won't miss an opportunity like this -- to feast and file, gorge and gauge, chew and review -- for the world.

So anyway, as the Chef de Cuisine of The Raintree Restaurant, Ms Virginia Kedit said it, "the International Buffet is back by popular demand!" With special group booking packages no less. Let me get to that in a minute because right now the only and most important thing that you need to know is how I liked the food. My answer? Very much indeed!

The cuisines choices this year have more variety. Well honestly, I have to take their word for it because I didn't manage to try last year's to be able to make a comparison on it on my own. But if I say so myself, it was an impressive list of variety where international and local cuisines meet for that 'dine around the world' experience. They rotate the menu per weekly too. So, what's a body like me got to complain about? :)

As usual, before I lay down the pictures, I'll warn you that when it comes to BCCK and food, I never follow the food protocols. I'm Asian maa... my appetizers are my desserts and vise versa, and my main course is whatever I take in between. Whatever makes the tummy full, baby, and whatever satisfies the senses goes. Humor me. :-)

I don't know what the above is called, but it's pretty unique. See the yellowish cubes in the middle of the glass? That's mango in spicy paste (sambal asam), the bluish layer below it is jelly, and topped with fried prawn. It's probably the weirdest combination and I don't know how but it works for me. =)

And then there's the pumpkin soup -- just creamy and thick enough. Not really a fan of pumpkin soup but try dipping fresh bun in it when it's hot and you'll get the same sensation you do as with mushroom soup. But that's just me... The bread station is nicely decorated and replenished with freshly baked french breads etc.

Sushi anyone? The only problem I have with this Japanese cuisine is that the California roll has too little ingredient, unlike the ones I'm accustomed to at a proper sushi restaurant, but then I probably shouldn't hope too much.

Baked potatoes coupled with a variety of baked veges, done with just the right heat... a healthy choice.

Pan seared fish with tomato coulis! A nice addition for the already heavy laden dinner plate y'all! Haha

Some more appetizers to meddle with the senses: Mediterranean lamb tagine (bottom), dim sum variety (top) and something I don't quite remember the name but is pretty tacky and filling. What is that, zucchini wrap? Perhaps...

Ah. Buttered prawn. My all time favorite. Buttered to perfection. And seen at bottom pic is Japanese potato salad. I actually forgot to try that one out, but you can try it next time and let me know.

That one above is another dish I didn't manage to try. Sigh. Baked salmon with olives, herbs and lemon. Sounds like tiny little heaven. You shouldn't miss this, because you better tell me how it tastes like. I might just come back for it.

I told myself I was going to try each of these lovely looking marinated dish above when I took shots of them, but when I checked them out 20 mins and a few main courses later, they were all gone! *Sigh* All the more reason to perhaps, return huh. Top is the marinated mushroom, bottom left is the black olives marinated in olive oil, and bottom right is marinated capsicum. Those are sold-out dishes!

Baked chicken with olive and potato. Now that's one dish I can try to fix at home. The chicken meat was so tender, and it may looked oily but that's olive oil for you... good for vein cleansing.

Somebody made a huge hole in the lasagna before I managed to take a picture, so all I had was this. I've tasted good lasagna, creamy lasagna, fulfilling lasagna... this is all of that packed together. I would've preferred seafood lasagna, but here's hoping they would have that in the rotation next week. =)

This roasted beef is to die for! BCCK is quite well known for its whole roasted lamb (as per the Ramadan Buffet), so when I asked Mike Cheng, our Coordinator and host, he simply smiled and said "Oh that's the Ramadan specialty. But for this buffet, we give you something else of a similar quality." I have no complain there. The beef, soaked in black pepper sauce, was simply delicious... for lack of a better word. If you can't take my word for it, then take a bite.

Fried kuay teow! Another awesome dish, if that glistening picture is anything to go by. It's seriously nice though. It's only missing some fat clams, if I had it my way.

So we're wrapping this up with a proper dessert then... fresh fruits and ice cream! The usuals...
Puddings, various cakes etc... and chocolate fountain with fruit dips. Not exactly my thing... too sweet and too weird to be coating my fruits with melted chocolate, but you go ahead. To each his own.

And the last layer of goodness to settle them all down... a good dose of strong black coffee. Guaranteed to make you perk up and attentive during the mingling and mixing sessions with friends or new friends while you get better acquainted. :-) See how strong the brew is? I could literally carve my own name on it if I were given a toothpick. You may also ask for their specialty -- The Bristot Coffee -- now that I think about it, why didn't I ask for one that time ho? Never mind.

So if you feel like dining out or having a family reunion, or just looking for a relaxing and romantic place to take a loved one to, why not head to The Raintree Restaurant at BCCK (that stands for Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, by the way) and try out their International Buffet? The food is superb (you can take my word for it), the service is excellent (attentive waiters everywhere), the atmosphere is charming, and the panoramic view is simply, well, Sarawak.

Price per adult is RM72++, price for children aged 5-12years old is RM34++ per child, and kids below 5 eat for free.

And yes the special group booking discount! Every booking of 10 to 19 adults can enjoy the buffet for RM60++ per person and RM28++ per child. And every booking of 20 adults and above can enjoy RM55++ per pax and RM25++ per child. See, perfect for a family reunion!

Oh by the way, the International Buffet is available every Friday, from 6.30pm to 10.00pm. For reservations, call 082-392988.

Thank you Sarawak Bloggers and BCCK for this opportunity to have a go at one of the finest restaurant in town. As for you all... have fun dining around the world!

The Breakfast Treat Adventure...

Played the role of a dutiful and grateful guest this morning at a discussion session. Since it was early in the morning and I braved the snooze button and the nearly cleared traffic to get there ahead of time, my kind host (bless her heart) understood how terrible it is for brains to function effectively without proper feeding. And so she offered me, and 3 other of her staffs, breakfast at her coffee table in her office..

It was the healthiest albeit weirdest breakfast I ever ate at another's table. Against my better judgment, I actually enjoyed it. Food adventurer and all.

The Menu
Plain low calorie yoghurt ( I like to imagine it is low cal)
Banana slices (raw and half ripe)
Honey cornflakes mixed with crisp nutmegs
Plain coffee and tea

Healthy stuff...

Pour a steady amount of cornflakes in a bowl, drop a few slices of banana however much you prefer, and scoop a generous dollop of plain yoghurt to cover it all. Voila! Mix and feed. Take a sip of coffee in between to wash it down.

I knew my host was eyeing me in private to see how I would deal with that... in fact I did all that with a straight face. So proud of myself for not trying to be a smart-ass and comment on anything, or for not making a joke about whatever. I wouldn't be able to pull it off! Haha. I noticed the other staffs were looking at the breakfast fare a little funny too because two didn't budge until a proper amount of soft prodding by the host. There was no milk for the norm. Dry then. I could hear myself crunching and talking and her crunching and biting and talking and the rest crunching and discussing.

Mashed and mixed ...

It was healthy. It was colourful. It was unfamiliar. It was happening. It was unusual. It was adventure. For me. And a good discussion it turned out to be too. If I had lived overseas for the past four years, I probably would've done the same to my guests... introduce my friends to something new and healthy in everyday meal. But then again, I'd miss my local fares too much.

On a usual day, I take whatever I'm offered and be thankful for it. But also on a normal day, I still prefer my coffee to go with Laksa Sarawak or Kolok Mi or Charsiew Pau or Mee Sua or Nasi Lemak for breakfast. I'm Asian, it's how I was raised. Eating a heavy meal in the beginning of the day is alright, probably less encouraged, but it normally keeps me full until dinner. Whatever works, right?

My kinda talk baby! Laksa Sarawak!

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day after all. So how do you normally take yours?

Coffee... How do you take yours?

As she brews, so shall she drink ...

To the devotee, it's the solution to a problem.
To the detractor, it's the problem to a solution.

To the addict, it's imperative.
To the sober, it's inessential.

To the needy, it's a shot that changes the landscape in a second.
To the non-indulgent, it's a concoction to be avoided at all cost.

To the lover, it's a source of joy.
To the hater, it's a constant disease.

To me, it's inescapable.
To you, it's a choice.

How does one brew the perfect cup? One cannot because one's own taste is the boss. But the one rule to the exception applies: You can brew the perfect coffee, simply by loving it unconditionally.

Welcome to my world.

P/s: When I'm good and caffeinated, everything else is irrelevant. That being said, I'm not sure I'm being coherent right now. But you go ahead, have a cup on me!

Hello November ...

Don't know how it happened, but November is here now and there's nothing to do about it but accept the brutal truth. Real soon it too will pass and then year end looms.

If anyone were to ask what were achieved so far, the answer would be pretty much a lot, and then some. Emotional level is currently on a high. Career level? Just had a lump of good news being dumped on the unsuspecting happy us. Social level? Not so bad. Spiritual? O Father in Heaven, search this humble stubborn heart.

Irregardless, still loves coffee but has been reducing the intake due to conflict of taste. Cant name one-self Coffee Girl if the namesake is slowly being converted to tea lover as well, now can she? One must always be true to one's heart, even if one drinks all sorts of coffee at all sorts of cafe without being partial while the partner only drinks a certain brand.

But it is rainy season. And I did get this short Venti coffee mug as consolation. So me no complain. For someone who claims he doesn't drink coffee, he sure does know his way around Starbucks waaaaaaay better than I do. And that's a good thing too.

Like I said, am not partial when it comes to coffee. Besides, the more run down the cafe, the better the coffee. How can anyone compete with experience right?

HAVE A GREAT NOVEMBER RAIN AHEAD PEOPLE!

One more to go and I'd have to make another entry on the yearly appraisal.

The Coffee Place Dream ...

Someday I want to own My Own Coffee Place. A little like this lovely coffee house in Cambridge...

Pic from Lavieboston

It will be called something thick and not necessarily original, like Coffee Girl Hut or Coffee Girl's Loft ... I haven't figured this part yet, but moving on ...

Living up to the blog name (assuming by then I'm quite the IT blogger, ehem) the theme will be coffee and blogging... and mostly cocoa-ish when it comes to colour. I haven't quite figured this part yet either, but moving on ...

I will personally man it with one or two other paid workers, preferably family members or business partners ...

We will wear this cute ensembles ...

Google pic...

with cute buttons. (got the ideas from the movie 'Caffeine')...

The layout designs will give off a feeling of comfort, freedom, leisure, privacy, and a place where you will want to spill out secrets. Or create new memories.

Pic courtesy of www.cosycafes.com

The main attraction will of course be Coffee, of any blend, any brew, any way you want it. Black, creamed, hot, cold, ice blended, thawed, layered, flavored, smooth, rocky. You name it, I will serve it. But give me some credit... I won't serve weak coffee. It will even have a free DIY coffee-brew counter and refill, for members only.

Pic courtesy of arkarthick.com

No other drinks will be available.

Aside from that, we will be serving your favorite scones, cupcakes, sinful cakes, and sugary biscuits to accompany your cuppa... and the occasional biscoti for the twist-lick-and-dunk fans.

Pic courtesy of www.bakingbites.com

I would bake my own pies and fix my own sandwiches... assuming by then I have already mastered the art of baking and less of freaking out.

Pic courtesy of www.smittenkitchen.com

While the rest of the goodies will be supplied on a daily basis by the Boy-Next-Door Confectionery Shop. (Must have babes in this dreams ok ... preferably with bad-boy looks and charms to match)...

Meet the Fabulous Baker Brothers... (Google pix)

Every other day of the week, we will serve a special lunch for the loyals and the fans. Most likely a fusion frenzy of spaghetti or local like laksa sarawak or nasi lemak special or mi jawa.

While you meet with friends, or enjoy your quiet coffee moments, or just here to escape, we will entertain you with Country musics from the legends and the new breeds, and sometimes an occasional slow acoustic rock.

On weekends, Miss Yours Truly will take to the tiny corner stage and pick up her guitar and do her rendition of Country latest for the good of the people.

We will open for business from 7am - 11pm Mondays to Saturdays.

This dream is accurate as of publishing date. As for it coming true, well, if wishes were horses, then beggars would fly. Oh we will... we will...

How's the dream so far, baby? Zzzzzz.........
