Week 30 and counting...

I really have no inspiration lately. It's almost the end of September and time is running out.

On another note, I am in my 30th week. And the lil one is fast gaining momentum in there and I'm beginning to feel the weight of it on my physique. Especially my hips and shoulder. There has been movement in my belly more regular than before, and getting stronger and persistent each time. Not sure if it's scary or just me being excited and clueless at the same time.

But I supposed all new mothers feel the same way. We just have to follow our gut instinct and go with the flow, wherever it may lead. Some readings do help though. And advice from the elderly. Plus a lot of moral and emotional support from the daddy.

With roughly 10 or less more weeks to go before this life-altering miracle is about to take place, there are still some puzzles we have yet to find answers for. But is slowly discovering them one by one. This I believe, is one of those 'trial and error' journey every couple must face together in order to make it really work. Like my mom said, there is no wrong or right in how you prefer to bring up a baby in this world, there is only faith and love and a lot of going by what your heart says.

Well, I cannot say I'm not a little bit overwhelmed by this, but I must say I am pretty much thrilled and affected by it. Every time my husband says he is nervous, I tell him "if you're nervous, imagine how I feel..."... me the one who'll be doing the labour stuff etc. Haha. And then he calmed down.

By the way ... look at all those ultrasound scans! I don't know about you but it always take me a few minutes to digest all that movements and dots and heartbeats to be able to make out what I'm actually looking at. And finally when I'm able to figure out which one is the head, the spine, the legs, the hands... the doctor moved to another region. It's like a blurry screen, or maybe it's just me. Haha.

Sometimes when I look at those black and white shot of the little stranger in me, I get reminded that no matter what and how many wrongs I've done in my past, I must've done something right to deserve all these. Every morning when I wake up and look at my mirror, I thank God that I am alive and well, and is soon gonna be a mommy!

Taped on the dressing mirror, for an everyday wake-up call... :)

Ok enough about baby otter before I bore you all with further details... =) Why do I feel like I'm beginning to sound melancholy lately in my postings?

Anyway... Although I supposed no first-time parents are a genius in this subject, I wonder how other couples go through their first pregnancy... Care to share? :-)

Have a good weekend everyone!

Dairy Journey... Anmum Materna: What's your flavor?

[This is not a paid post. This is merely for sharing purposes.]

I know my blood type is coffee. And you know I am a regular self-confessed coffee lover (to be substituted with the word 'addict' at will). But for the past 6 months, I have determinedly slowed down on the caffeine intact (thanks to my lovely doctor's advice who allowed for a cup a day if I can help it). In fact, thanks to earlier months of training before the announcement, I can go on without coffee for a few days on end.

And also for the past six months since this announcement, I am also now a dedicated milk drinker. I thank God for good genes and generations of easy pregnancy. Milk which never really featured in my daily diet (and thoughts of drinking it used to make me gag) is now a constant addition as one of my source of meal. We don't even gag at the first cup. How awesome is that?

Anyway, this was supposed to be a review on Anmum product. There are many brands of milk in the market for the expectant mothers, but I chose to consume the most common one. And why not? Anmum is reasonably priced around RM36.90 per box of 200g, available in most supermarkets/malls, and tastes just fine.

When looking for the right formula for yourself, read through the box carefully (yes they mostly come in boxes, or cans, whichever you prefer). There's Materna (for moms-to-be), Lacta (for the nursing mothers), and Essentials (for the babies/children you nurse). The first time we went shopping for one, I was confused as well, but that's probably expected. Everything is learned on the go... trial, error and lots of gut instinct.

There are actually just 3 flavors for Anmum Materna: Plain (the original creamy milk taste), Chocolate, and Mango. Of course being a practical and no-hassle kinda person, I picked the usual one lah... the plain milk, because of course I would know what to expect. Anmum Materna Plain is without a doubt, a no-brainer: creamy and milky as milk should taste like.

But a week ago, this Anmum lady promoter at one of the supermarket I frequented, gave me 2 free sample packets each for Chocolate and Mango -- one of the many perks of being pregnant and let loose in a supermarket. She actually spotted me from afar, and literally ran after me. Of course I had avoided any section with a promoter on the ready (hahaha), but this time it's sort of different.

So hey, now I can review the Chocolate and Mango flavors! Although I have to say I don't really like the chocolate. It tasted very much like something that came out of a lab. The chocolate mixed with milk sort of gave it a thick creamy cocoa-ish taste, which I find a bit strong and yucky (for lack of a better word). But I finished the whole two packets nonetheless, free mah...

The Mango however... is a delightful surprise. I thought that one would taste weird, but in fact it tasted much much better than the chocolate. If I had to compare it with something, I'd say it's almost as good as mango yoghurt drink. It went down the throat surprisingly well. Or maybe I just like mango yoghurt. =)

Oh on a recent visit to my gynae, the pharmacist on the payment counter also gave me a can of Frisomum Gold milk free sample. It would cost around RM40++ in the market, if I'm not mistaken. Ah, another perks.

Another free sample: Frisomum Gold

I asked the pharmacist the difference, and she said 'tastes like ice-cream'. In which case, she was right. Very vanilla-icecream-ish. But also, a slight sweeter than I prefer. But I finished the whole can anyway (free mah...) and switched right back to my plain Anmum.

The recommended dosage of dairy intake for pregnant ladies is 3 glasses a day, but the minimum allowable is 2... and a cup of coffee in between every now and then when the craving hits.

I don't know about you but I think I am growing rounder and heavier everyday... don't believe me? Please refer to an exaggerated point of view below. We like the view really, it reminds me of a giant panda on a roll, tummy out in full force and everything...

A very very exaggerated view point... perhaps not mine la...

... But hey... it's a pretty much an adventurous journey on its own! Till then, have a good week people.
